4. How are Winners Notified?
Winners will be notified by mail directly by the Publishers Clearing House Contest Department or in person by our own Prize Patrol at our option. No one else - not even a celebrity - is authorized to notify you of a win in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes.
More importantly, there are no strings attached to winning a Publishers Clearing House prize. There is no processing fee, tax or special handling charge required to enter or win. Our prizes are delivered FREE of charge to the winners.
Warning: If you are contacted by someone who says you won a prize, but in order to claim it you must drive somewhere, pay shipping, handling or delivery fee, prepay taxes, pay a deposit, give a credit card number, call a 900 number, or purchase a product with a "discount voucher", it is NOT affiliated in any way with the real Publishers Clearing House. We urge you to make sure you fully understand the identity of the contest sponsors as well as all the details and requirements before participating in any of these programs. If you're in doubt, call us toll-free at 1-800-645-9242 to ask.

5. Does Publishers Clearing House Really Award all those Prizes?
Absolutely. That's guaranteed three ways. First, we observe all regulations and register and secure our Giveaways wherever required. Then, as a second safeguard, our sweepstakes are supervised and audited by an outside accounting firm. Finally, our law firm oversees the sweepstakes and winner selection procedures as well.
Real people really do win. And, by the way, the winners you see being surprised by The Publishers Clearing House Prize Patrol in our TV commercials are not actors but the actual people at the actual moment-of-winning. (There's no staging or pre-notification.)
