Spruce Up Your Bedroom With a New Headboard

January 5th, 2012 Bed and Bath

If you're interested in redecorating your bedroom, you may be wondering what projects to undertake that can give it that extra bit of visual flair. After all, you can only add so many throw pillows to a bed before it's too much. As it turns out, there are quite a few things you can do to get that oomph you've been looking for. Have you considered designing your own headboard? According to HGTV.com, you can create a beautiful headboard relatively inexpensively. It'll add that unique DIY touch to the bedroom that visitors will be sure to notice.

Perhaps the least expensive way to give your bed a headboard is to put a decal on the wall behind it. While this may not technically be a headboard, it has the same visual effect. If you look online, you may be able to find a beautiful decal for under $20. Installation is fairly simple and a great way to have your room looking gorgeous!

Why not throw some corkboard up on the wall? The material comes in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, so you should have no problem finding one that suits your bedroom's aesthetic. If you have children, this is a great way to display their artwork without having to put holes in the wall.

Another alternative is to hang a piece of art behind your bed - it can add a dash of elegance to the bedroom without costing as much as an ornate headboard. Plus, it's always pleasant to look up and see a piece of art you enjoy before drifting off to sleep.
