2. Lean proteins. Foods like grilled chicken and turkey give you plenty of energy, meaning you'll have more strength to battle the sickness. Try some in salads or sandwiches for an easy meal.

3. Juice. Whether it's made out of fruits, vegetables or both, 100 percent juice can hydrate you while giving you essential servings of these crucial diet staples. Their antioxidants can even help boost your immune system.

4. Chicken soup has been proven to help sick people by offering plenty of nutrients and fluids - not to mention an anti-inflammatory effect. Hot soup can also improve your body's ability to protect itself from bacteria and viruses by stimulating the tiny hairs in your nasal passages.

5. Garlic has antimicrobial and immune-stimulating effects, which makes it a great addition to any kind of sauce or soup.
