You've probably been told countless times that fad diets don't work - whether it's cutting out carbs or drinking nothing but lemon juice and chili powder for two weeks, most of these diets may help you cut down a few pounds, but you're going to have a hard time keeping that weight off once you go back to your normal habits. If you want to lose weight quickly and permanently, you're going to have to change your lifestyle.

Speaking to WebMD, Michael Dansinger - the medical doctor for The Biggest Loser - essentially says that tenacity is what you need to lose weight fast.

"In theory, one could drop as much as 20 pounds in a week following a very ambitious eating and exercise plan, devoting more than seven hours per week to rigorous exercise, and under a physician's care like we do on the television program," he told the news source.

Of course, not all of us are capable of going to boot camp for a few weeks, but that doesn't mean you can't facilitate the same changes at home. Get tough on yourself! What's in your diet that you could cut out? Learn a few healthy recipes and start making them as frequently as possible.

Perhaps more difficult is getting yourself out there and exercising. It may be slow going at first, but if you commit yourself to hitting the gym, or at the very least spending 30 to 60 minutes running every other day, you may start to see results pretty quickly. Also understand that miracle weight loss doesn't happen. You likely won't lose 10 pounds in five days, so don't beat yourself up if it doesn't happen.
