Tips for Keeping Full During the Day

July 31st, 2013 Healthy Living

Trying to lose weight is hard for many reasons, but feeling full is one of the biggest. Feeling full throughout the day can cut down on excessive snacking. As it turns out, staying full all day sometimes means doing the opposite of what you might think.

Fats
While it seems like eating fats if the worst idea for people dieting, it can actually keep you full. Woman's Day magazine suggests that eating foods high in fat (but low in saturated fats), like avocados and olive oil can help you feel full for longer. Take everything in moderation though, as too many of these fats will be difficult for your body to process and they may stick around as a result.

Protein
Eggs, lean cuts of chicken and low-fat Greek yogurt are all good options to help stay full, notes Glamor magazine. These foods are high in protein and low in fat, so they're good options throughout the day.

Good carbs
Like fats, carbs have a good side and a bad side. The good side consists of complex carbs found naturally in fruits and vegetables as well as whole grain breads and cereals. Avoid white breads and other simple carbs that take longer to break down.

Exercise
Everyone knows exercise burns fat, but it can also help you feel full. An hour or two of cardio will help reduce your appetite but it's important to change your exercise routine.

Avoid sugar
Snacking on sweets might make you feel hungrier, even if they're high in calories. Processed sugars add little nutrition but lots of fat to your diet. Try eating some whole wheat crackers or nuts instead.
