How to Make a Wish Bracelet

December 8th, 2011 Jewelry

You've probably seen those hemp bracelets with different colored beads weaved in on the shelves of plenty of stores. These wish bracelets are designed to incorporate specific colors that correspond to the spiritual chakras, so you can make a related wish that will supposedly come true when the bracelet falls off! Luckily, these bracelets are super easy to make for yourself, and you can pick the colors you want to incorporate once you get a grasp of the different colors. Here's how to make the bracelet, along with the colors and characteristics belonging to each of the seven chakras, according to

The bracelet
All you need for this bracelet is a roll of hemp, which you can buy at any craft store, along with a selection of round, glass beads. Depending on the size of your wrist (or ankle, as you can make an anklet), cut three pieces of the hemp. Tie them off on one end, leaving space to tie it on yourself afterward. Simply braid about half the length, then put a bead on every other piece you pick up while you're braiding. You should put seven beads on, then continue the regular braiding until you get to a good stopping point. Tie the braid off, then tie it onto your wrist and cut the extra ends.

The chakras
Use these colors to represent what you want to wish for using your bracelet!
• Violet stands for the crown chakra, which represents self-awareness and spirituality.
• Indigo stands for the brow chakra, which relates to self responsibility and intuition.
• Blue stands for the throat chakra and is associated with self expression and communication.
• Green stands for the heart chakra, which is related to love and nurture.
• Yellow stands for the solar plexus chakra, which represents self worth and personality.
• Orange stands for the sacral chakra and represents self respect and respect for others.
• Red stands for the base chakra and is associated with survival and security.

Pick and choose which ones you want, or incorporate the whole rainbow!
