How To Celebrate Your Pet's Birthday

May 7th, 2012 Pets

It may seem silly, but pet owners understand that celebrating special occasions with their dog or cat is an enjoyable experience. Even though the animal likely has no idea what's going on, it's the perfect opportunity for owners to shower him or her with attention, give out a few special treats and remind themselves how much they love their pets. If your pooch or kitty has got a special birthday coming up, why not have a little shindig to mark the occasion? Here are a few tips to have your favorite pet feeling like a million bucks.

The first thing you'll want to do is get your animal into a party mood - pick up his or her favorite treat and let them go nuts, especially if you don't buy them very frequently. You'll want to make sure you aren't violating any dietary restrictions too egregiously, however - the last thing you want to do is exacerbate any health problems!

If you have friends and family who have pets of their own, why not invite them over for a good old-fashioned pet party? This may work better with dogs, who are naturally more social creatures than cats tend to be. If you choose to go with this option, you can prepare a special meal for your furry guests.

Why not let your kitty or pooch bend the rules a little bit? If your dog absolutely adores sleeping on the couch but you don't usually allow it, maybe make an exception on his birthday. Just make sure to get back to the same rules the next day so he doesn't think he can get away with it all the time.
