Best Waterparks in the Country

December 28th, 2012 Seasonal

Amusement parks are always a fun treat in the summer, but sometimes those long lines and high coasters aren't suitable for the hot sun. Water parks are an ideal way to combine the same fast-paced thrill with a cool and refreshing experience. As you plan a vacation, you may want to check out some of these great aqua-oriented parks.

Schlitterbahn Waterpark

Texas is a large landmass with limited beach space, so in order to make up for the lack of coast they've got to have great water parks of course! Schlitterbahn is often considered the cream of the crop. This theme park chain has four separate locations throughout the Lone Star state and each one is guaranteed to provide tons of fun. One of their main attractions is the blacknight tunnel slide, a 6-story, 550-foot high ride replete with high velocity tubing that shoots you through pitch-black fiberglass slide and lets you blindly fly into the waters below.

Wilderness Territory Resort

This Wisconsin mainstay has an outdoors theme that is rife with pools and twisty slides. There are several water parks that operate in the Wilderness Territory Resort, including both indoors and outdoors. One of the most notable, Wild West park, has bumper boats and fun play equipment for the little ones. Park patrons also shouldn't miss the Hurricane, an unforgettable attraction that allows riders to descend four stories in a high-speed, 60-foot-wide funnel on a tube.

Water World

Denver's expansive Water World has something for everyone. With rides and slides that have names like the Mile High Flyer, Turbo Racer and the Boomerang, you're bound to find the thrills you seek. If you just want to kick back and relax, you can head on over to the lazy river. For the little ones who might not be big enough for the high action slides there's also Wally World, a miniature water park with smaller slides and attractions.
