Fun Games You and Your Family Can Play at the Beach

December 28th, 2012 Seasonal

Going to the beach is an understandably fun experience for everyone, but sometimes people are looking for a little more than simply laying around in the sun and playing in the sand. Perhaps the water is just a little bit too cold for a lot of swimming! Luckily, there are plenty of great games you and your family can play the next time you head to the beach. If you've been looking for enjoyable activities that will keep everyone happy, here are a few that will be sure to please.

1. Beach volleyball. You almost always see a group of people playing beach volleyball, and for good reason! It's a wildly fun game that almost anyone can participate in. If you're lucky, there will already be a net available and you can simply jump into the current game being played. However, you might want to think about bringing your own. This works just as well with badminton, though keeping track of the shuttlecock may prove to be difficult with all of the people walking through the sand.

2. Beach tag. Running on sand is a great way to get a workout, so why not turn it into a game? A round of tag could be just what everyone needs to start moving around and have a great time at the beach.

3. Sandcastle competition. This requires that you bring a lot of buckets, pans and small shovels for the kids, but a sandcastle building competition could be the perfect way to spend an hour or two. It'll keep everyone engaged in a fun and friendly game and give your little ones the chance to explore their creative sides a bit.
